· Manage site personnel on a daily basis, establishing and communicating methods of work to ensure the safe, smooth and efficient running of all on site activities. · Ensuring health, safety and environmental issues are managed throughout the site works to national Grid and Alliance Procedures. · Assisting the site managers in the developing and implementing a proactive approach to the SHES plan. · Co-ordinating work programmes and construction activities to ensure that the construction and commissioning elements of the project are delivered to programme and budget. · Involvement in the development and implementation of a Communications/Public Relations strategy. · Day to day management of the site quality plan and quality control. · Monitor and implement all activities in connection with Site establishment. · Manage all activities to ensure site welfare at all times. · Track and record the performance of contractors and sub contractors. · Ensure weekly inspections are carried out of all plant equipment · Organise site inductions for all staff, operatives and sub contractors prior to any site activities commencing. · Monitoring and reporting progress and issues/risks.

Responsibilities |
To undertake and assist in general engineering duties for the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of engineering works in HV / LV substations, as directed by the Site Manager or Asst Site Manager, to Company and statutory requirements and with proper regard to Health and Safety standards.

Roles |
· Have knowledge of all materials used in the construction of substations. · Receive and check drawings arriving on site properly register and check against the CDL. Arrange copies for other parties as required. Check drawings for completeness and raise any found anomalies or omissions assist in the raising of TQs.Check build ability and technical details. · Take off quantities from drawings and order materials in time to meet the programme, conforming to the procurement procedures. · Suggest alternative engineering construction and installation methods and materials, if required. · Assist in the planning of the works, using MPS, including 3 or 4 week look ahead programmes. · Solve any site engineering queries or raise with the Site Manager for resolution. · Chase deliveries of materials and check on arrival on site-check quality and quantity. · Operate a range of surveying equipment you have been trained for, observing required safety standards and procedures. Ensure the engineering works are set out correctly to match the design requirements. This includes temporary and permanent works. Produce relevant calculations to support these activities, as required. · Use the relevant check sheets and forms in the QMS system. · Ensure that temporary works are correctly set out. Assist the TWC as required, to ensure all temporary works are adequate and safe and meet the design requirements. · Assist in site inductions and RAMS/SPAs from an engineering perspective. Produce permits to dig and assist in the completion of excavation permit forms · Deal with engineering concerns on site by using a common sense approach drawing from experience to ensure that a high level of health & safety is maintained throughout the construction phase of the project. Ensure that a positive image of the company is projected at all times. · Attend weekly site meetings as required. · Liaise with material suppliers and contractors for the successful engineering of the works. · Raise any engineering problems or issues with the SM or ASM. · Produce as built drawings and check returned as builts and keep a register. · Produce engineering records as required. · Support the Site Team in creating a good working relationship with National Grid and in particular the resident SAP. Additionally, assist in enforcing NG’s Safety Rules within the live compound environment to ensure that safety from the system is maintained at all times. |

· Basic numeracy and literacy skills. · HNC/Degree in Engineering, or working towards. · Previous experience within HV/LV substations · Good working knowledge of Health & Safety. · NG Competent Person & BESC, NRSWA / HSG47, · Possession of valid driving licence. · Ability to work without direct supervision for periods. |
